DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P2227
DTC P2227:Barometric Pressure (BARO) Sensor Circuit Out of Range High

General Description
The barometric pressure (BARO) sensor is built into the power control module (PCM), and it monitors atmospheric pressure. The monitoring function checks the signal of the BARO sensor for implausible values by means of diverse criteria. If the difference between measured ambient pressure and the reference pressure is a specified value, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Short to power or short to ground errors are not received from BARO sensor

Malfunction Threshold
Either of the conditions occurs:
Difference between measured ambient pressure and the maximum reference pressure is greater than 2.5 kPa (19 mmHg, 0.8 inHg).
Difference between the minimum reference pressure and the measured ambient pressure is greater than 2.5 kPa (19 mmHg, 0.8 inHg).

Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
PCM internal circuit failure

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
