The three way catalytic converter (TWC) converts hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) in the exhaust gas to carbon dioxide (CO₂), nitrogen (N₂), and water vapor.

The TWC is attached to the turbocharger.
