Engine Oil Monitor System
General Description
The engine oil monitor system shows a driver when the engine oil and/or the engine oil filter should be replaced by indicating a caution on the gauge control module which means the period of time when they should be replaced.
Item A: Replace engine oil.
Item B: Replace engine oil and engine oil filter.

The engine oil monitor system helps keep the engine in good condition.
The PCM calculates a current driving condition, an engine load, and an appropriate engine oil replacement period, then, according to the result of the calculations, it displays a caution on the gauge control module.

Fail-Safe Action
If the PCM stores engine system DTC(s), it will not be able to properly calculate the current driving condition because of the fail-safe action. Instead, the PCM calculates a temporary driving condition in theory and results in a replacement period earlier than normal with a caution display on the gauge control module.
