1.
Problem verification:
Problem verification
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
?2.
Clear the DTC with the HDS.
Clear DTC
?3.
Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
?4.
Select the VTC TEST in the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.

Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

P0010 VTC Oil Control Solenoid Valve Malfunction
Is DTC P0010 indicated?
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

VTC oil control solenoid valve internal resistance check:
VTC oil control solenoid valve internal resistance check
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
?2.
Disconnect the following connector.
VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector
?3.
At the VTC oil control solenoid valve side, measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector: disconnected
Test point 1
VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector (male terminals) No. 1 (VTC oil control solenoid valve side):
Test point 2
VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector (male terminals) No. 2 (VTC oil control solenoid valve side):
Is there 6.75 ?8.25 ? at room temperature?

Open wire check (PG line):
Open wire check (PG line)
?1.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector: disconnected
Test point 1
VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2:
Test point 2
Body ground
Is there continuity?
The PG line is OK. Go to step 4.
Repair an open in the PG wire between the VTC oil control solenoid valve and G101.?
4.
Shorted wire check (VTC line):
Shorted wire check (VTC line)
?1.
Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
SCS Short
?2.
Disconnect the following connector.
?3.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector: disconnected
PCM connector C (51P): disconnected
Test point 1
VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1:
Test point 2
Body ground
Is there continuity?
Repair a short in the VTC wire between the PCM (C6) and the VTC oil control solenoid valve.?
The VTC wire is not shorted. Go to step 5.
5.
Open wire check (VTC line):
Open wire check (VTC line)
?1.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector: disconnected
PCM connector C (51P): disconnected
Test point 1
VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1:
Test point 2
Is there continuity?
The VTC wire is OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or
substitute a known-good PCM .?
Repair an open in the VTC wire between the VTC oil control solenoid valve and the PCM (C6).?
