NOTE:
The indicator comes on when the reprogramming fails.
Do the reprogramming of the EPS control unit again.

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

Check the following fuse.

Is the fuse OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 6.
     
NO
     
     
     
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. A2-1 (70 A) fuse circuit.?

The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 7.

Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then to the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. D34 (10 A) fuse circuit.?

Open wire check (IG1/IG1 VSA/ABS line):

Open wire check (IG1/IG1 VSA/ABS line)

Disconnect the following connector.
EPS control unit connector B (6P)

?2.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?3.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Vehicle ON mode
 
EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
Test point 1
Test point 2
Body ground

Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
The IG1/IG1 VSA/ABS wire is OK. Go to step 8.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the EPS control unit.?

Open wire check (+B EPS line):

Open wire check (+B EPS line)

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connector.
EPS control unit connector A (2P)

?3.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
 
EPS control unit connector A (2P): disconnected
 
EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
Test point 1

Body ground

Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
The +B EPS wire is OK. Go to step 9.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and the EPS control unit.?

Open wire check (GND line):

Open wire check (GND line)

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
 
EPS control unit connector A (2P): disconnected
 
EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected

Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 10.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and body ground (G202).?

F-CAN circuit communication check:

Reconnect the following connectors.
EPS control unit connector A (2P)
EPS control unit connector B (6P)

?2.
Select the FUNCTION TEST in the CAN gateway with the HDS, then select the F-CAN Bus Connected Unit Check.

  

Which result is indicated?

     
Gauge control module (Bus A) is Not Available
     
     
     
Go to step 11.
     
EPS control unit (Bus B) is Not Available
     
     
     
Go to step 12.
     
Gauge control module and EPS control unit are Available

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
 
CAN gateway 12P connector: disconnected

The F-CAN A_H and F-CAN A_L wires are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good gauge control module, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good gauge control module, replace the original gauge control module.?

Repair an open in the wire between the gauge control module and the CAN gateway.?

The F-CAN B_H and F-CAN B_L wires are OK. Check for loose terminals and poor connections at the EPS control unit connectors. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good EPS motor/control unit, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good EPS motor/control unit, replace the original EPS motor/control unit.?
