How to Troubleshoot the Cross Traffic Monitor
Cross Traffic Monitor Indicator
When the cross traffic monitor system fails, the cross traffic monitor indicator comes on on the center display unit.

Control Units
The cross traffic monitor system is controlled by BSI radar units. If the BSI radar unit malfunctions, the cross traffic monitor system stops operating.
CAN Communications
B-CAN
The cross traffic monitor system is controlled by the BSI radar units. The BSI radar units are on the B-CAN system, and they communicate with other units via B-CAN.

If the BSI radar units detect a communication error or a malfunction in another connected unit, the cross traffic monitor system will not operate even though it is OK.
Intermittent Failures
The term ‘‘intermittent failure’’ means a system may have had a failure, but it checks OK now. If you cannot reproduce the condition, check for loose connections and terminals. Also check ground and power connections related to the circuit that you are troubleshooting.
How to Troubleshoot DTCs
Check the DTCs with the HDS.

Before troubleshooting, check and note these items:
Ask the customer about the conditions when the problem occurred, and try to reproduce the same conditions for troubleshooting.
After the troubleshooting or repairs are done, clear the DTCs, and test-drive the vehicle under the same conditions as when the DTC was originally set. Make sure the cross traffic monitor indicator does not come on.
