Power Tailgate Motor Test

NOTE: The motor and the sensor are built into the drive unit.

2. Power Tailgate Motor - Test

NOTE:
Before testing, make sure not to short the power tailgate motor circuit.
Before testing, make sure open the tailgate.

1.
Disconnect the connector (A).

2.
Test the motor by connecting power and ground at the connector according to the table. When the power tailgate motor stops running, disconnect 12 volt battery power immediately.

NOTE:
The power tailgate moves faster than you think, so stay alert while you are working on any power tailgate. Also, stop the power tailgate motor immediately when the power tailgate opens or closes fully. If not, the power tailgate motor may be damaged.
Before applying battery voltage, prepare a jumper wire that is long enough to secure sufficient working space, and make sure the plug is held firmly in place to avoid a short-circuit.
When testing the power tailgate motor, make sure the power tailgate motor is mounted on the vehicle. If the power tailgate motor is tested with it removed from the vehicle, the spindle will decompress very quickly when power is applied.

3.
If the power tailgate motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, go to step 4.

4.
Disconnect the connector (B).

5.
Test the motor by connecting power and ground according to the table. When the motor stops running, disconnect 12 volt battery power immediately.

6.
If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, the motor is faulty; replace the left tailgate support strut.

3. All Removed Parts - Install

1.
Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
