DTC B1379: Power Tailgate Left Touch/Pinch sensor circuit malfunction
NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

Problem verification 1:

Clear the DTCs with the HDS.


?2.
Open the tailgate manually or with the keyless transmitter.

?3.
Close the tailgate with the keyless transmitter or driver's power tailgate switch.

?4.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1379 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.?

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Any of DTC are indicated at the same time with DTC B1379?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 3.
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 4.
3.
Open wire check (PTG/PTL SEG2 line):

Open wire check (PTG/PTL SEG2 line)
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connectors.
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P)
Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector

?3.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P): disconnected
Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector: disconnected
Test point 1
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) No. 8
Test point 2
Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector (male terminals) No. 2:


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
4.
Determine possible failure area (left power tailgate pinch sensor, others):

Determine possible failure area (left power tailgate pinch sensor, others)
?1.
Disconnect the following connector.
Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector

?2.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?3.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle ON mode
Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector: disconnected
Test point 1
Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector (male terminals) No. 1:
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 5.
5.
Open wire check (PTG/PTL TSLL line):

Open wire check (PTG/PTL TSLL line)

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Vehicle ON mode
Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector: disconnected
Test point 1
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) No. 3
Test point 2
Body ground

Is there battery voltage?

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
