NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

Problem verification 1:

Clear the DTCs with the HDS.


?2.
Open the tailgate with the tailgate outer handle switch.

?3.
Close the tailgate manually.

?4.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1382 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.?

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are DTC B1384 and/or B1390 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting, then recheck.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 3.

Determine possible failure area (T/G SW line short, others):

Determine possible failure area (T/G SW line short, others)

Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

Determine possible failure area (power tailgate closer unit, others):

Determine possible failure area (power tailgate closer unit, others)

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connector.
Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P)

?3.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?4.
Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

Go to step 5.
     
NO
     
     
     
Faulty full latch switch; replace the tailgate latch.?

Shorted wire check (T/G SW line):

Shorted wire check (T/G SW line)
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connector.
Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P)

?3.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected
Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P): disconnected
   
Test point 1
Test point 2
Body ground

Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
Repair a short to ground in the wire.?
     
NO
     
     
     
6.
Determine possible failure area (power tailgate closer unit, others):

Determine possible failure area (power tailgate closer unit, others)
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connector.
Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P)

?3.
Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A
Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 1:
Terminal B
Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 2:


?4.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?5.
Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

YES
     
     
     
Faulty full latch switch; replace the tailgate latch.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 7.
7.
Determine possible failure area (T/G SW line, PTG/PTL SEG3 line):

Determine possible failure area (T/G SW line, PTG/PTL SEG3 line)
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the jumper wire.

?3.
Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A
Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 1:
Terminal B
Body ground


?4.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?5.
Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

8.
Open wire check (PTG/PTL SEG3 line):

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the jumper wire.

?3.
Disconnect the following connector.
Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P)

?4.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected
Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P): disconnected
   
Test point 1
Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 2:
Test point 2


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
9.
Open wire check (T/G SW line):

Open wire check (T/G SW line)
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the jumper wire.

?3.
Disconnect the following connector.
Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P)

?4.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF(LOCK) mode
Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected
Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P): disconnected
   
Test point 1
Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 1:
Test point 2


Is there continuity?

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
