DTC B1390: Power Tailgate Closer Motor function error
NOTE:
If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.
Before troubleshooting, make sure the fuses associated with the system is OK.

Problem verification:

Clear the DTCs with the HDS.


?2.
With the tailgate closed, press the tailgate outer handle switch and wait for 10 seconds.

?3.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1390 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.?

Check for power tailgate system DTCs with the HDS.

Are any DTCs indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting, then recheck.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 3.
3.
Open wire check (PTG/PTL CLM? line):

Open wire check (PTG/PTL CLM? line)
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connectors.
Power tailgate closer unit connector A (2P)
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P)

?3.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Power tailgate closer unit connector A (2P): disconnected
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P): disconnected
Test point 1
Power tailgate closer unit connector A (2P) (female terminals) No. 2:
Test point 2
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) No. 2


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The PTG/PTL CLM? wire is OK. Go to step 4.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
4.
Open wire check (PTG/PTL CLM? line):

Open wire check (PTG/PTL CLM? line)
?1.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Power tailgate closer unit connector A (2P): disconnected
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P): disconnected
Test point 1
Power tailgate closer unit connector A (2P) (female terminals) No. 1:
Test point 2
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) No. 6


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
