Before troubleshooting, make sure the fuses associated with the system is OK. |

Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

With the tailgate closed, press the tailgate outer handle switch and wait for 10 seconds. |

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1390 indicated?

|
|
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.? |

Check for power tailgate system DTCs with the HDS.

Are any DTCs indicated?
|
|
|
Go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting, then recheck.? |

Open wire check (PTG/PTL CLM? line):
Open wire check (PTG/PTL CLM? line)

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. |
?2. |
Disconnect the following connectors.
Power tailgate closer unit connector A (2P) Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) | |

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition |
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Power tailgate closer unit connector A (2P): disconnected Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P): disconnected |

Is there continuity?

The PTG/PTL CLM? wire is OK. Go to step 4. |

|
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.? |

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
